Bluffing in online poker

So you go on good place for know it. Do you honestly believe you play the right, "sound", poker game, and yet still fail to rake in the money you'd like or expected to? What would you say if I told you that playing sound was by far not enough to make sure you win consistantly? If you say you already came to that conclusion yourself, then it's that much better. Playing tightly and only acting on hands with a good potential won't deliver nearly enough wins for a player because of a few simple reasons: first of all such a play is a child's game to read. Once read, the opponents will make sure the pots that you do win, will be kept minimal. Any kind of action you attempt will be met with everybody folding on you. You practically lock yourself out of the game singlehandedly. Bottom line is, something needs to be done, if you really want to get back into the game. Varying the play is the solution in this case, and that will involve bluffing. Bluffing is a really sensitive issue, but it can be attempted well from a position of being catalogued a "tight" by the other players. Its sensitivity stems from the fact that it won't work in just any game, and there are a bunch of factors that can determine whether it'll work or not. In low limit games the chances of pulling a bluff are practically nil. The reason is, no player who thinks he/she has something up the sleeve will be detered by a 3-4 bucks raise to see the showdown. They'll pull it off just for the heck of it. Playing in a free online poker room won't prove to be a good testing ground for the strategy even if one plays in a no limit room. For a bluff to work, the stakes need to be high. Another possible way out of the no-win situation a player gets himself into when playing too tight, is to play the perfect hand. The perfect hand is not aces full of kings, nor a straight flush. The perfect hand is made perfect by an array of circumstances that all work together for it. To illustrate this statement let's consider someone holding pocket kings and considering going all in on them. It's all fine and dandy up to this point, but what if the next person holds pocket queens? He too will consider going all in on them, but he would probably fold right away on pocket deuces. The third guy holding two aces in the pocket will get the chance to milk both of these players just fine, because of the cards they are holding, and that make them belive they stand a chance in an all in. Pocket aces in this case are the perfect hand, but they are that because the pair of kings and queens make them that. The downside of this whole approach to this trategy is that it will eventually make players shy away from potentially game-winning hands. The stakes and the risks one takes when on the lower end of a high hand are simply enormous. Getting burnt a few times on such hand will almost certainly cut one's appetite to play them anymore. This will cause him/her to be bluffed out of far more hands then he/she normally would be. It will generally make everyone more vulnerable to aggressive play. It is always wise to play big hands slow, but one always need to be aware of the dangers any big hand poses. This is where other poker-skill factors come in. Knowing when it is safe to play a possible lower end of a perfect hand and knowing when not to. Being able to read otherplayers and table position are both imperative here. Table position in itself is not that big of a deal, knowinghow to take advantage of it is. Remember next time you hit an online poker room or an online casino to bag some chips playing poker knowing when to act is the key in poker.
